Default SEO strategy

SEO strategy

What would be a good SEO strategy?

Before you Upload a website, you should have the following done :

a) Optimized your <title> tags on each page to contain 1 - 3 keywords
b) Create unique Meta Tags for each page
c) Used appropriate markup where necessary (<h1>, <em>, etc.)
d) Used keywords liberally yet appropriately throughout each page
e) Designed the navigational structure especially the homepage
of the site to channel PR to main pages
f) Used Search Engine Friendly URLs
e)Created a complete website with plenty of quality content
g) Used keywords in your domain and url

Immediately after launching your site you should do the following:
a) Submit your site, by hand, to all major search engines
b)Submit your site to all free directories (dmoz, yahoo (if applicable), etc..)
c)Begin a link building campaign (attempting to get keywords in the reciprocal
link anchor text)

Finally, as part of an ongoing strategy:
a)Continually update your website will quality content
b)Continually seek free and reciprocal links preferably from sites in your genre

Whats < em >? Never heard of that one. I've also heard that your keywords should be in the alt tags of your images, as well as there should be atleast one link w/ your main keyword. Also be sure to bold your keywords on your page as well!

Maybe <em> was a typo? I've never heard of that either. If not, tell us please. Your suggestions are really helpful, thanks Magician! I did a PR on my site and had a PR1. I guess that's about as bad as can be. Though I get about 1000 hits and sell a few hundred dollars worth of stuff from my poorly designed site! ugh debbiap
