Subdomains look so much better and more professional. I'm pretty much a newbie to this but thats my opinion anyway.

Subdomains are useful for yahoo and msn however they are treated as a separate site in the eyes of google.

You need to bear this in mind. Black hatters use subdomains as they usually display adsense but get most of their traffic from MSN and Yahoo.

if you have one site for VISA only then i would say take the subdomain:
visa . domain . com

but if you have a project what compaire credit cards or a site with different nichse then it's better to use this version:
domain . com/visa/
here you have all your pages in one domain and there are more chances to get visitors and the spider on your page.

Hi, we have been using some subdomain and multiple subdomain with different IP address's techniques with great results. Using the backlinks from our main sites, i4u.com.au and etourism.com.au we gain instant ranking with Google.

Its easy all you have to do is set up a sub domain and then make sure each sub domain has its own IP address and make subtle changes to the text and cells etc.

The best part of this is that you can have unlimited subdomains running off your main websites
Check it out here at the bottom of the page, i4u.com.au

and
