What does Pr mean?

I've seen alot of people talking about PR what does it mean. My head is telling me it means Promotion ranking but im not sure. can anyone help me?

Just a note it only matters on google and no other search engines care about pr..

Every search engine has their own ranking system.
People are concern about PR because Google is one of the most frequently used Search Engines around the place

yes thats right.. i dont put much attention on PR.. coz you can rank well without a high PR

thants right but if you do a research in the top 10 youlll find out some high pr sites are being topped by low PR sites
It all depends in your number of links and content relevance in your KW

So can someone explain what a PR 5 is and a PR 3? Not sure how the numbers fit in. My little definately home made site was coming up on the first page of google. I did absolutely no advertising. I think there are just very few blogs on my topic. But after my computer crashed, I can't find my site..even looking on page 8 of google, still not there. I'm hoping by updating the blog, I'll move back up again.

What does this all mean? Will it mean that I can probably get advertisers for my site if I'm on the first google page?

Oh No! Checked out my site rankings and it has a PR1 I guess that's better than a PR zero! Okay, how can I bring the rankings up? I am trying to add new content to the site but what I really need is a forum that I can add some adsense too.
