Does it really matter or should I specify it for every single one of my images?
Wouldn't it be strange if I did something like

<img src="image.gif" alt="this is a pointer that points to the XXX link">

It would be really strange if you specify them for every image and even those buttons and arrows.
Just the import ones like your logo or an image that is used to explain something.

much better if you describe your image with your alt text not just stuffing all your keywords..we build sites for our visitors and not for search engine bots..
