Default Paying to get listed in Yahoo?

I remember paying 39.95 some time ago to get listed in Inktomi for an old website I had. I never really saw any burst in visitors or rankings. Is it worth the whopping $300 price tag to get listed in the yahoo directory? Will it help boost my rankings in Yahoo and other engines. Has anyone had any positive results in the serp's paying Yahoo?

Hello,

Well, we paid to get listed over a year ago but I would not say it enhanced our rankings anywhere. That was just our site though maybe others have noticed otherwise.

For me Ill used that amount in buying Links with high PR and traffic sites, I dont believe that youl get good rankings with the inclusion in their directory. Its just a directory, not much user used the search box in yahoo directory, but instead they go for the web search.

I totally agree! buy links twoards your sites with that kind of money! or buy other things that could improve your website, but don't pay for the directory! you can be listed at much better directories for free! ( DMOZ )

DMOZ is one good directory but you got to have a lot of patience, coz it take 2 weeks to 6 months before you can get in..
Try zeal.com, It has the same importance as dmoz but not that as diffuclt like them. Just passed the quiz them you can submit a site..

Good Luck!!

if you get a good listing in google is it the backdoor to a good listing in yahoo. I wouldn't bother to submit it is too expensive and not enough payoff. You hsould have spent the money on PPC - google adwords or overture.com

I agree with what the others are saying about links.

I have a tip for you, If you want to get better ranking in yahoo.. Create a blog, in the blog try to put the links from you sites, get the url site feed of the blogs then add it to "My Yahoo", of course you have to have an account there in yahoo.
Then ping it, using pingomatic.com...

Thats it, with in a week you can be indexed by yahoo, but it still depends on how long your site has Live.

Hope this can help
