Today, I am going to focus on Page Rank again. As you may know, SEO talks about two things - On-page optimization and Off-page optimization. You can handle the on-page optimization without any problem since you can have full control on what to show or to have in your site. On the other hand, it is not under your control in case of off-page optimization which talks about the inbound links. As the title of this post implies, how many links do you need to in order to achieve certain PR of your site? First of all, let’s look at the table below:

I do agree that focusing on SERP is a lot better as this is where traffic comes from. PR are valuable for certain niches - forums, directories, blogs, etc. Pr dictates how much you can sell your ad spaces and links.

This is not entirely true. PR is based on the quality of backlinks you have - not all links are quality in the eyes of Google.

agreed, the only thing pr did for me was help sell links but now its not even good for that

Having PR is a good indication as well that Google sees relevance on your site based on which other sites are linking to you.

First and foremost the link that you have provided isn't working.Secondly the PR of a website depends completely on the number of backlinks or inbound links that your website has from another website.As far as backlinks are concerned it depends whether the page that has your backlink is cached or not. Incase it is cached then it is added as your backlink.The formula is
The Page Rank Of A Website depends solely on your inboud links.The PageRank of a website is calculated with the help of the following equation:

PR(A)=(1-d)+(PR OF LINK PAGE 1*D/NO OF LINKS IN PAGE1)+ (PR OF LINK PAGE 2*D/NO OF LINKS IN PAGE2)+.....+(PR OF LINK PAGE P*D/NO OF LINKS IN PAGE P).

Either way when you download the Google toolbar enable the PR bar.The arrow besides the bar gives you three options for A)Backlinks, B)cached pages,C)related pages.Click on the one you want to know.

Yes, I also agree that you must concentrate more on getting your targeted keywords be placed on the top position in SERP. This will make your site be visible and easily find by most searchers and help you gain more natural traffic.

if your concern is about PR, find inbound link from some high PR site.
