Default Which is the Best Position for Pay Per Click Ads

I need your help in deciding the best position for my website's pay per click campaign. I was under the impression that the top position was the best position as it was considered to be the most relevant search result as per the keyword.

But while I was doing a little bit of homework on pay per click campaigns, I came across a blog which spoke on how the top position is now being ignored by the users considering it as paid searches which might not be relevant.

My keywords are extremely focused and relevant to my website and I wish to see good results of my pay per click campaign. Should I still opt for the top position or should in consider biding for the top positions that appear on the right hand column of the SERPs.

Naman my advice to you is stick with the top spots. I believe the majority of people who would be interested in what you have to offer would click on a site at the top. The minority on the other hand are more experienced more skeptical site goers. These people are not who you are marketing to anyway. So stick with the majority ruling when deciding what to do with your pay per click campaign. Hope all goes well.

It depends on what your site is. For example, ads in between forum posts tend to be clicked more as when placed on the top. For sites, top position is still the best.

I support the top position too, it is the place for pay per click campaign.

I think the best position will be on the top of the site to make it more noticeable to your visitors...

I think they're talking about Adwords here and not Adsense? I normally bid to end up in position 3-5 to start off. If you can get your quality score up and your bid price down then numbers 1-2 are great but I'd never rely on over-biiding just to secure the top spot. For me around 3rd has always gave the best ROI, maybe not the best CTR but the best ROI.

I take into consideration my budget when I vie for PPC. If I could bid high for my keywords, I would and then gradually decrease them. Proper management on your bids is also a key factor in PPC IMO.

It's not that simple...

In some cases, being further down can result in only those who are truly interested in your services, and thereby take the time to read through the ads, click on your ad. This can yield a better ROI then a top spot would give you.

On the other hand, being further down often results in your site getting far fewer visitors then the top position would give you.

Since the top position costs more per click (quality score and everything else being the same...), it usually comes down to finding the right balance between the cost per visitor and the traffic level.

my advice would be to maintain at the top position. Top position is always the best position after all why every one is paying for ads campaign i believe they did so to get the top position.

Top position isn't always the best position at all. The best best position is the 1 that gives the highest ROI. Top position will normally give you the highest CTR but very seldom (in my experience) the best ROI. Nathan is spot on.
