Default Best CMS for a content website?

I'm about to build a content site about a little niche which will consist of around 10 articles when it first starts and one article will be added every week. I don't really need the user system and things like that, just something where it would be easy to publish articles. I heard Wordpress was nice as a blog site turned content site, but I don't really like its coding and it's not really optimized for search engines as well. Rather than do this whole website in HTML, I decided to use a CMS because a site with 50+ articles can be very hard to control in plain HTML.

Go for Mambo. I strongly advise you not to use PHP-Nuke.

simplecms is probably what you need - stable and easy to use.

Joomla and Drupal are probably my 2 fav CMS scripts, but both are probably well and trully above what you really need...in that case the above poster is about right in his suggestion.

I'd recommend Joomla. There are plugins for pretty much everything you need. It's has regular updates, and you have to be prepared to do those, since there are usually lot's of security issues fixed.

Joomla is nice, but very big. It can probably do a lot more than you need. Not that that necessarily is a bad thing.

I've also had good experiences with CMS Made Simple (can't post links yet).

A lot `simpler' than Joomla, and not as buggy as PHP-Nuke.

use simple cms, it is simple with no over the top extra features, some good templates to and easy to install.

i'm not too familiar with cms. for your needs, mambo would work, but PHPNuke is more oriented toward gaming sites, in my experience. don't use it unless your making a clan site or something.
