If you have had experience in C++/Java, etc, you should be able to pick it up pretty quickly.

IMO PHP is quite easy and intuitive, read some basic tutorials to get know some commands, then get simple scripts and learn how they're working... Nothing sophisticated, really.

Ok thanks, you got any decent links to any 'good' tutorials?

As I would like to read into this & start getting to know it before we start studying it!

Hmm, I never was interested in English PHP tut, since Polish is my native language... But juding what I've found with G, you may as well try w3schools.com/php/php_intro.asp or freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/php

If you're going to do some coding and don't have hosting with PHP, or you just want to do it locally, as it's faster and you can control everything, go for EasyPHP, 1.8 is doing just fine here. Link: easyphp.org/telechargements.php3?lang=en

And remember, php.net is your friend - don't be afraid and go to check every command, it's fully explained there!

IMHO PHP isn't that tough. I dabbled with Borland C back in the day (96/97).

I learned a lot the same way I picked up C. Looking at other peoples code, and seeing what makes it work.

There are plenty examples out there, pick something simple you want to do and download a few examples from hotscripts or the like.

My first project was a simple counter that kept a running count in a text file, it took about a whole 4 lines of code.

<edit>And by no means do I mean steal someones code and remove the copyright. Use it to learn, if you do want to modify it
and use it, ask the author for permission. Most people I've talked to are understanding as long as you give them credit</edut>

PHP is not easy if don't have any basic knowledge of any other web development language!
