VB script and Javascript are client side scripting languages.. And PHP is server side scripting language.. Client side scripting languages are run in the browsers, like Internet Explorer, Firefox etc.. But serverside scripting languages are run in servers.. Hope that u know what is a server and client.. As a clientside scripting language its better that u use Javascript, bcoz Client-side VBScript only works in Internet Explorer.. Now whether PHP is difficult...! PHP is the most simple language

in my knowledge client side programs executed on host web browser
like an applet in java that is first downloaded and than executed on host web browser
and server side programs are that one that are executed on web server like servlet and jsp. if you will add some more I will be thankful to you

A lot of those companies will have started their development a few years ago during all the Java marketing hype.

Once a company has adopted particular languages for development they have no reason to change until such time as they want to do something that their chosen language can't do and even then most would prefer to try to find a way to do it anyway rather than have the huge expense of retraining.
