Maybe someone here can help us with this...

We are a marketing firm that has several Wordpress and Drupal sites that are hosted by various hosting companies (GoDaddy, HostGator, etc), and we need a backup solution that can backup both clients remotely, without being installed on those servers, and can put the backups on another server.

This means backing up files and databases.

We also need the ability to restore those backups quickly and efficiently. Most of the sites are not very big, so we are looking at a maximum of one hour to restore or backup.

Can anyone recommend a solid solution that can handle all manner of PHP/SQL/MySQL websites?

well i don't think so this would be work on this php, sql etc languages. can you tell me that any of software which is handling online backup to recover it.

its simple if you are using Cpanel you just need to backup to complete account and it could be restored to any new cpanel account

You can't do this if it is not a dedicated server or a VPS. You will need shell access.

your problem is not clear to me, too.
however there are several database backup plugins for wordpress. they can be customize to send the database to your email daily or in a rate you like.

For WordPress I use BackupBuddy devlopped by iThemes. It allows me to do a full back up and send it to S3 Amazon or DropBox
