Should I have an independent service to backup my blog or should I just back up from the cpanel?

Just answered my own question. The cpanel has a great backup feature.

I can only speak for wordpress. cpanel backup is good. But when yopu're a busy guy it's not always possible to make sure you keep regular sequential backups. Use a plugin called wp-db-backup It will email your sql database to you frequently, the wordpress files themes are so-so, but the most important thing is to have a backup, when you have that your job becoems easy.

You can do it on demand or scheduled, daily/weekly/monthly.

If you are using wordpress blog, I think there is a backup plugin you can use to backup your blog.

Yes, the backup feature provided in the cpanel is a good one, however if you thinking of other options then you can opt for the R1soft offsite backup services. They are the best option to securely store your data on an offsite server.
