Re: BackUpAgent
I'm familiar with them. Our company has tested a lot of online backup providers in Holland, but I'm definately not pleased with them. It's slow, and it is not quick and efficient. If you really want to have a good online provider, try IASO ( http://www.iasobackup.com). They also provide the backup solution for the biggest reseller, namely KPN. They are much more efficient and more stable than Backupagent, or Ahsay (hongkong). Even Backupconnect and ConnectIT are not as stable.
Good luck making a good choice,
Regards,
Ronald

Re: BackUpAgent
Hi,
Ronald, I am surprised by your reaction.
We, IT service provider in London, UK, work with the Backupagent software for over 2 years currently and I must truly say that our customers are more than satisfied. Easy to use and feature-rich.
Besides, the company itself is very flexible and helpfull.
hope this helps,
BR,
Robert Steven

Re: BackUpAgent
Hi,
I am also very surprised by Ronalds comments. We have an online backup service for which we work with BackupAgent. Before selecting Backupagent we evaluated many companies and tested many solutions. While it is not possible for us to have tested every available solution I am very pleased to say that 18 months on we are very please to have selected Backupagent.
Not only is the product secure, reliable and fast but product support as and when required is second to none. Considering that Backupagent is in another country we have never had any trouble dealing with them.

Re: BackUpAgent
Hello, I know that company. We were looking for that kind of services (backuponline) for over a year, to introduce bacuponline into the polish market. And after testing many solutions we have choosen BackupAgent. Why?
1.very user-friendly software (also in polish – we made translation and localization for BA)
2.easy integrations with webservices with our crm/billing system
3.fully brandable solutions with well done reseller options
4.very good pricing model , support (technical and commercial)
5. flexible approach for doing business from BA
If you need more details, contact me

Krzysztof Szyszka

Re: BackUpAgent
We are a company based in the US BlueClone Networks . We tested numerous online backup solutions for over 2 years, including the ones listed in this thread and chose BackupAgent for many of the same reasons others have posted. The software is user friendly, secure, easy to maintain, wide range of compatibility, and they have excellent support.
We were using another software package for a few years and decided based on the experience of our staff and our clients, to completely migrate to BackupAgent’s software (of which we are still in process).
Our advice, whatever you choose, be very careful as the transition to other software is timely and expensive if you change your mind.

Re: BackUpAgent
Hi,
We are a NL based international Backup provider and working for almost one year with BackupAgent software.
For me as the CTO of Jamby, the main reasons to choose for BackupAgent where:
** They used SQL als DB which makes you verry flexible with intergrating it with a backoffice system.
** They support backup DB enviroments.
** They used a windows load balancer solution to scale out for better performance and providing redundancy/maintenance.
** They provide clients for all the OS types, win, mac linux.
So i would say give it a try and take a test account at one of the current providers.
thanx,
Niek.

Re: BackUpAgent
Oke, let's get a little more technical.
We ourself, use IASO Backup. We have tested a lot of vendors, but this one stood out in the storm. Most vendors provide you with backup of databases, live backup of SQL, bricklevel exchange, etc, so this is not an issue.
The main profit is in the use of the storage. Practically all vendors use the same technique as used in tapestreamer-software in the old days. This if know as incremental or differential backup. No problem with that, but it has a few downsides. One of that is that you grow within your storage, between 2-4 percent per day, depending on the number of days retention you would like to have. IASO is (or at least was) the only one, who uses a different technique, called delta backup. This deltabackup is so efficient, they only grow between 0,1 and 0,5 percent per day. Imagine the use of your storage and the use of the clientbandwith on a 100GB dataset!!!!! this is the difference between sending 200Mb per night at best with the competitors over 50Mb at worst with IASO. This was our main focus to use IASO and not BackupAgent. Furthermore, like I tried to describe in my previous post, It is unstable, or at least not stable enough for us. It crashed in the tests we performed, and had a huge downtime in storage, where IASO had 100 percent uptime and no crashes!
I hope I clarified myself a little.
Regards,
Ronald.
ps. don't go for price, look for quality. It allways pays back in the long run.
