This is a good thread. Our criteria is that we also want to host and resell the solution ourselves - so backupagent may be better in this regard than iaso? Pricing is always a consideration.

Also, Ronald - on a 100 GB dataset, I don't think most of my customers would consider a 200 MB vs. 50 MB incremental backup to be a problem. Overall stability however, would be more important.

@rljb1804: you seem such an avid fan of IASO. Have you ever worked for them perhaps?

BTW: IASO was most definitely not the first to introduce delta's in their backup solution. DC-Protect from DataCenterTechnologies (a Belgium firm, acquired by Veritas in 2006) already used it way back in 2000 in their deduplication algorithms. They were also the first to use deduplication in a commercial backup application - and I know 'cause I wrote it (and even got a patent on it).

Kind Regards,
Koen.

I agree, but they are the only one to use the Delta Restore. (which is a way of restoring corrupt or parially missing / changed files withing minutes, in stead of needing to download the entire XXX Gb database / exchange store).

IASO should be the best one among some backup agents with great advantages to provide their best backup solution for clients who enjoy the pleasure in taking advantage of them.

I have trialled both BackupAgent and IASO. They both tested really well. IASO is a very nice product, but both were out of the price range for the market I was researching.

For enterprise-level service providers I would ask for a trial of both products. I found that staff from both companies were very willing to spend a lot of time setting up trials and demonstrations.

We, IT service provider in London, UK, work with the Backupagent software for over 2 years currently and I must truly say that our customers are more than satisfied. Easy to use and feature-rich.
Besides, the company itself is very flexible and helpfull.
