Remote Online Backups
We have about 40 locations worldwide, with a typical data size of about 200 GB per location, with some up to 2 TB. Most sites have 1024 to 1536 Kb/s MPLS links, with a few 2 Mb/s and one 4.5 Mb/s. Central data center has two 45 Mb/s links.
We are looking to remote, online backups to our data center from each location. I'm wondering which products and processes have worked.
Has anybody successfully implemented remote, online backups of Windows servers across their WAN to a central data center?

Re: Remote Online Backups
Today, data is the lifeline for organizations, and any unplanned downtime affects the company’s bottom line. To reduce length and downtime cost during outage, organizations are building infrastructures to reduce RTO and RPO. This approach allows them to compress backup windows, increase the frequency of backups and, when necessary, restore their data quickly and efficiently.

Re: Remote Online Backups
When applications are spread across multiple servers, it’s difficult to provide uniform backup and failover capabilities.
Somebody suggested, by centrally locating multiple applications onto fewer servers, IT can create disaster recovery instances that are more consistent, easier to administer, and substantially low in cost. But still unable to have an exact solution to my problem.

Re: Remote Online Backups
The most reliable, safest and easiest way to backup data and keep it backed up automatically is by using an online backup service. There are many online companies that offer online backup services, but if you want to make sure you don’t have any headaches, I suggest using a managed online backup service offered by an IT Support company that is based in the real world (not just an online company), with real staff that can help you and your business safeguard your data, a company like BrightVisions Ltd.
BrightVisions also offer a free trial for their remote online backup service.
Hope that helps.

We have just started doing this since florida is alway at risk with hurricane and co-location is costly. User poll showed that we need
data over entire servers since most people have high speed at home
server backup is done simply to restore.
Let me know if you want to share experiences with online backup solutions.

Sorry if anyone has already suggested this. I don't deal with Windows but my friends who do swear by NSI Doubletake, I am sure it will do exactly what you are looking for.
It will replicate the data in a clustered and load balanced fashion between multiple locations and servers.
I would recommend having more than 45 mbit/s uplinks at all locations, if you are dealing with 200GB of data and 1536 kbit per second you'll have big issues.
I would recommend permanently storing all of that data at locations (even off-site and remote) with connections of at least 100mbit. This way the data is centrally accessible and is never going to be bogged down, except by a remote location with insufficient bandwidth.
