Default Remote backup of large files?

I'm convinced that remote backup is the way to go but as far as I'm aware, all the lower priced services cannot do sub-file backups, i.e., only backup the part of a file that has changed. The issue is with the likes of Outlook pst files which can get pretty big, well over 1GB, which means backing up the whole file each time.

While this may not be a problem for those with ultra fast connections and unlimited bandwidth, it is an issue for those of us with limited upload speeds and monthly data quotas.

Was therefore wondering, is there such a thing as a program that can do a sub-file/bitstream backup of large files to the local PC and then just back up this smaller file and perhaps do a full backup once a month?

Or any other solutions to this issue?

Thanks in anticipation,

I believe a NAS (Networked Attached Storage) would solve this situation. A NAS basically plugs straight into your router and is remoteley accessible.

You can also forward incoming port 80 traffic to a static internal IP and if you don't have a static IP with your ISP then you can use Dynamic DNS to access the files off site.

I couldn't agree more. NAS is the best one to be fit for your need.

Would still have to backup large files to the VPS so how does this help?

Well it all depends on how fast your connection is. It is no problem for me but if your connection is slow, then do not take my suggestion.
