Default Backup software - recommendation

Hi there,

We have a backup software called Handy Backup which is working fine for our PC backups. But when we tried for our webserver backup it crashed quite often.

Please see the details of our webserver backup below.

Our backup server is a Windows 2003 server. Our web servers are Linux & Windows baseds. But soon we will change all our web server to Linux OS.

We have 2 Linux and 2 Windows boxes so we have totally 4 web servers. 3 of them are located in US and one in Hong Kong.

Our local backup server connects to these web servers through FTP and synchronizes with the data we wanted to download. The downloaded data are stored in an external back drive. The downloaded data includes images/files/documents etc and the mysql backup dumps.

It also backs up our local web server files. Also each of the staff has a folder in the backup server to which we backup every night from our PCs. These folders are backed up to the external backup drive as well. So everything is backed up to the external backup drive.

Finally it synchronize external backup drive to an FTP server that is located in a data center in Hong Kong.

The backup software we currently use often crashes and we need your valuable comments on which backup software to choose for our purpose.

Thanks a lot!

Have you tried mirror to do a duplicate of your full drive, assuming you have the space?

Actually I do want to do a full mirror of the disk.

The process I mentioned is already working for us. But I just want to use a better software which does not crash!

Thanks!

If you are interested in switching, there's several Online Backup Providers you can research at:
Online Backup Providers & Reviews of Online Backup Services

I've tried Mozy without any crashing problems that you mention but it's basically my own PC and the data requirements are not as heavy as yours might be.

You should try the software SyncBack. It is a free tool and it is very stable and works beautifully. I highly recommend it.
