I have used several different software backup solutions. Mozy, and Carbonite. Carbonite has possibly the buggiest software and worst customer support that i've ever seen in my life...see here...

Carbonite backup services

That's my experience with Carbonite.

Mozy, i have had no problems with. Quick and easy backup solution. Has a control panel to manage corporate accounts and multiple computers. You can control. what is backed up and how much bandwidth to use. You can also control how much space they take up. Mozy is a bit pricier than Carbonite, but you get what you pay for. Doesn't gett better than Mozy imo.

Using Remote Backup Solutions are always good. It makes your life easy and you are more relaxed when you have one for all your important data.

Cool Re: Backup software - recommendation

We have 2 servers and about 30 laptops. We use Mozy on one server while on other where we have really large files, we use Secobackup. I do not have a tape or any other backup. This works for disaster recovery and remote backup too. Go with Mozy premium services if you need customer service and support, go with secobackup which uses I think Amazon S3 as their cloud storage.

Cheers.

Do you try doing parallel server, where in if the first server crashed the standby server who is parallel to the failing server will take the load and save all the files in seconds before the it fails. Also, your OS server also have the same capacity to do parallel task. I know that kind of features is available in MS server enterprise edition, but not very sure if it is available in Linux.
