The placements looks fine. I usually see people put the 160x600 one on the right hand side instead of putting it next to the left navigation bar though.

IMO, if you really want to put the ad on the left hand side, then you may consider putting a shorter one just under the left nav.

the eyes first focus the upper right third of the screen. if you want to tell the visitor somethin important then place it there. the placement of the ads depends of what you want to do with the site. make money orgive informations?
