well i get some clicks in months and could pay my hosting bills

Adsense does not tend to work that well unless you have a lot of traffic and content on your website

I prefer manual ads (getting people to advertise) than google.

I find that with Adsense, integrating the ads into your pages is absolutely key. Quite a few times I've moved an ad block from below the fold to above and more than doubled its revenue.
