Default My bad experience with Hostgator

Dear readers

With this message I want to tell you my bad experiences with the hosting company HostGator and I want to warn you about their fraudulent methods.
Before I became an affiliate I read in some boards that some people warned against hostgator. Now I`m sad that I had to make this bad experience like some others.

I signed up at the HostGator affiliate program at 2007-08-29. At the first month I referred only few users. Later in December I could refer about 40 clients and in January again 20 affiliates.
This should have resulted in a payment of 60 * $125 = $7500.
But HostGator cancelled my account at 2008-02-05 without giving any reason.
I tried to find an answer if this was a mistake or why my account became cancelled because I had nearly no fraud referrals or any kind of complains. So I wrote many emails and ask in their support section but until today I’ve only got unclear and confusing answers which only seem to me like a lame excuse.
The support asks me always the same questions over and over, how I reffered my clients and accused me that apperently my referrals should be credited to someone else which is ridiculous and impossible. Despite asking several times which referrals are wrong credited and to whom they should be credited they refused to give me an answer and after I explained it the 5th time how I get my referrals they started to ignore me.
I told them to make this story public if I don`t get my money. Suddenly all messages in my support tickets were deleted. Maybe to avert a complete visualisation of your discussions?

I’m very, very disappointed. I hope with this text I can prevent some of you making the same mistake like me with this company.

Any help or legal advice in this situation is very welcome.

Thanks for hearing my story. I hope this will help you in making a good choice for a hosting company.

Felix

Wow... unbelievable... as hostgator is a big company...

May I know how do you get your referrals? I believe they will have some proof to back their claims.

I use IRC to chat with other people about webdesing, hompages and webhosting and help them with their questions.
As a suggestion for a good hoster I gave them my referral link to hostgator. This worked very well until my account became cancelled before the payouts.

Is it because of the IRC??

Maybe you should post this thread at WHT as well.

I don't know a reason why I should not use IRC to find new referrals and Hostgator did not say that that is the problem.

Thanks for the link

No problem.
Hostgator has a representative there and I think he'll be glad to reply to solve your problems.

wow, sorry about your loss but you can always contact your referrals and tell them to cancel because of what happened but that is alot of hardwork and money gone.
