Default Playing Windows Games on Linux

Is it possible to play games on Linux, yet? I used to play with Red Hat, Mandrake, and Debian around 4-5 years ago, but I could never get any games to play on it. I switched back to Windows since it could do most of the things I wanted to do plus play games.

Hello,

You should try Wine. Wine, which stands for “WINE Is Not an Emulator”, doesn't require you to buy a Windows licensed copy. It it accomplishes this by rewriting the complete Win32 APIs which differs from the Microsoft Code.

check it out ...

Sounds like a very complicated program. Is it easy to use? Rewriting the code, that's pretty nifty. Does it cost anything to buy the program? I'm getting a Linux computer and it would be good to know about this.

As far as i know WINE is a an EMULATOR But for games i would recommend cedega which is a wine product but not "WINE" and runs games alot more smoothly as it has no GUI and what not. WINE it's self or better know as WINE X i think is used for applications and such. Cedega is your friend for games

Rigth now the best options are getting a game that runs on linux rigth out of the box, or get a emulator like wine but you are on your own or get cedega but you have to paid but you get support and a good chance that it will run without problems.

Some games are native on linux now. I'd recommend Enemy Territory (ID software, free) :-)
