Fairly new to Linux

Hi,

I am fairly new to hosting on a linux machine. I previously hosted on windows but am expanding and have moved to a linux based host.

I need a few questions answered if anyone is happy to do so:

1) Will a linux machine support a database created in a Windows download version of MySQL
2) What language is easiest/most basic to connect a website to a MySQL database (i know asp so similar is best - also it needs to be available in dreamweaver)
3) what type of connection is used to connect a site with a MySQL database
