Default The Difference?

What is the difference between gnome and debian based Linux? And which one would you choose?

I'm just wondering since I am about to dabble into Linux and was hoping for some insight from those who have more experience and are more knowledgeable then me.

Thanks.

There are a number of distributions based on Debian. Some users might want to take a look at these distributions in addition to the official Debian releases. Demolinux is a distribution that includes the GNOME and KDE environments and it is probably the best distribution to use if you want to just give Linux a try and see how it works.

Most of them look the same to me...
I would prefer to use RH/FC or maybe Mandrake.

Swings and roundabouts - I love to try out new distro's, but if it ever comes to a commercial or critical situation I will always go with either RedHat 9 or a Fedora core.

As far as I'm aware, Fedora still comes with Gnome and KDE (Correct me if I'm wrong, I know RedHat did although I've not had a local installation of Fedora) but I could never really choose one over another.

Best way to discover Linux, gh0st, is to try it yourself. Get an old machine and install them all, learn how they work and you will soon see which are the easiest and most powerful to manipulate.
