Whats the most popular Distro?

Which is the distro that is most commonly used?
Since all are free? WHats the difference?

Redhat or Fedora Core maybe.
But thats for server admins I think.
Maybe Desktop users would be using Mandrake.

Yes, I run all my servers on CentOS 4.2 86_64X
it is the most stable, and secure Distro I have ever used for a server install.
For my home pc however, I use Ubunto, wich I feel is the best, and is becoming a very popular home distro.

I tried four or five on an oldish laptop, and I had lots of problems getting the PCMCIA network cards working with the internet and my home network at the same time.

The best distro I found for that is Slackware - but there are still problems!

I am using (or maybe "playing" around with) Debian (to be honest a Knoppix HD install though). I tried the live cd and i liked it. Now it is on my HDD. Games and other stuff is working fine and i had never problems with it, though I am using it for about 1 year. Every guy i know, who are using Linux, told me that Debian is the best distro, but i would say use a distro which you like and not what others say. It also depends on what you want to do with Linux. Anyways I've tested SuSe, Debian/Knoppix, Mandriva and Fedora Core, but I like Debian more than the others. Maybe I havent spend enough time with the other distros.

right now the most popular distro must be Ubuntu, that's the one i use, i've been using ubuntu for about a year and it's a great distro, easy to use and have a large list of software available on the repositories, i think it's the best distro for a new coming user, it has a great comunity behind and the people from ubuntu also ship the linux cds all for free

its currently ubuntu (debian modified distro) and suse.. these are easiest to use out of the box. i can highly recommend ubuntu, am using it on a server and several desktop machines. bye bye security troubles, licensing fees, crashes etc!

OpenSUSE and Ubuntu are the most stable linux thus far. I personally prefer openSuse and I would highly recommend it.
