Wow, reading all these posts makes me feel like I got into this way too late. I was about 31 when I started doing this. I've done a few sites but nothing major, and just for myself, and my friends business.....I've being using Paint Shop Pro, but everything I'm reading says Photoshop is the way to go. Even at 33 years old, the price of Photoshop is steep....

I was around 19, but I knew I wanted to push the limits of what could be done in terms of a web interface. I started using Flash when it first came out and was immediately hooked... ah, memories.

I had started getting into site designing when I was about 14... I just fell in love with how you can take one idea and make it into a whole community...

I was 12 at the time. Once you grow up and you look at the market you will find that specialization is the way to go. Think of doctors, they are a dime a dozen, but when you specialize in a specific thing in medicine you get paid the big bucks. Same applies to webmasters. Find your niche and learn all that you can learn in it.

I got started with Web design about 8 years ago. Mostly as a hobby. I agree with wazzeh that specialization is the key to success. Learn all you can learn is my motto!

Actually, I'm not into design professionally, but I do web design (and needed to learn it) because I develop web pages, so they need to be "cool".

I started to see the necesity of design in my development about 4 years ago, but I only started actually learning about usability and stuff like that about 1 year ago.

I'm still a newby hehe
