Backup services

I have always wondered how these services work.
DO they just provide you with the space to transfer your data to their servers or are there something else?

So if my backup data gets lost, is there insurance?

Simply put, yes. They basically give you storage with plenty of bandwidth for the transfers. They allow you to use FTP & rsync (preferred).

We use BQ Backup but have also used GNAX.

Both have good services and uptime. In regards to insurance, I don't think anyone insures you for loss of data, although I could be wrong..

Yes, backing up is your own responsibility and therefore if you are really paranoid about this, have a remote backup for dailys and a monthly archive that you lock away in a Bank Safe or something.

Its tiring, but still when the time comes, you will not be sorry
