Default Google Earth

I just saw CNN using google earth to display a graphical map of an area a helicopter crashed in afghanistan, "provided by google earth" or something similar was displayed on the screen momenterily.

I thought google and CNN were at each other's throats over bad pubuliciy?

for those of you who don't know google earth is a free windows XP maping software that shows their maps as pictures taken from orbit.

look for it on google.com

Anyone use this software?

I've messed around with it quite a bit. Some of the maps are up to 3 or 4 years old, but some of it is fairly recent. One thing that comes to mind that was older was the old Kingdome in Seattle, WA. It was still standing in the picture when it was imploded years ago. Very cool program that a person could easily spend hours at a time using just looking at various locations.

I downloaded it but could never seem to get it successfuly installed. I just keep getting an error message so I gave up. I assume that my system doesn't have the necessary hardware to run GoogleEarth - and that really stinks. I've heard that it's really something powerful. Many people I know have used it and say it's sorta creepy really - I just wish I could test it out and see for myself. Oh well. *sigh*

I'm still waiting for it to come to the Mac platform. Hopefully it will be here soon. I have however played with it on Windows and was really impressed with what Google has done with the software.
