All images in .psd

I have a template, and all the images for it are in a .psd file, and I need to take a button from it, but that doesnt work, I try selecting all the layers, and selecting to copy, but that doesnt work either! I need this button out of there so i can edit the damn text! how would I extract it from this file?

start deleting layers until you have nothing left but the layer with the button in it.

Cut the button out, and close the file.

DO NOT save your changes

Paste the button into a new .psd and do what you need.
