Basic CGI and Form Tutorials.

Hi Folks:

I need a good, clear, very basic tutorial or resource that will take me by the hand and show me how to use CGI scripts and how to build some simple forms.

I want to build form page to gather email addresses, and some other info. Need to know how and where to save this info...which script to use etc.

I then want to redirect user after correctly filling out form to download page.

After which I want to send them to thank you page and also have autoresponder send thank you email.

Want to make all of this non spamable.

I know html, very little CSS and have used some basic java scripts before.

for cgi scripts you can go to cgi-resources.com and also do a search on google as well.

as for a tutorial lynda.com has some good tutorials for cgi scripts, and also check different host they also have tutorials... also try the section for cgi and other scripts.. do a search on this forum.. you will find some useful tutorials


Once you get the cgi down, at least for creating a form its pretty much easy from there.

autoresponder, can set one in you inbox to autorespond to address sent to your box.

CSS and very useful and sometimes it can get confusing... do a search on this section of the forums, I had something about css as well as other people... your best bet is running a search on the forum, im sure you will find everything you need.

Personally i say stay away from CGI and go to PHP you can lean it just as quick and it's scripts are Open and All over the Web.
