Default Reason for Change in Approach

I observed that many technology companies are moving away from using frames in their web pages. Is there any advantage or benefit gained by this approach? Can someone tell me the reason behind this? This will help us all in building efficient sites…

Thanks

Default Re: Reason for Change in Approach

Frames are bad for many, many reasons - some of which are:
Poor usability (confusing to users)
Inability to bookmark the page (you bookmark the frameset)
Problems tracking page views
Bad for search engines
A "page" is broken into more than one file, which is bad for site organization
They're slower to load

And whatever benefit you get from frames can be replicated without using them through includes in php or SSI.
