Re: What are Computer Viruses?
A computer virus is a computer program that can replicate itself[1] and spread from one computer to another. The term "virus" is also commonly, but erroneously used, to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have a reproductive ability.
Viruses can increase their chances of spreading to other computers by infecting files on a network file system or a file system that is accessed by other computers.

Re: What are Computer Viruses?
A computer virus is an executable program. Depend on the nature of a virus, it may cause damage of your hard disk contents, and/or interfere normal operation of your computer.
A computer virus is a program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are man-made. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.

Re: What are Computer Viruses?
Hi
If you are conversant with laptop code, observing the particular strings of code in an exceedingly suspect program will facilitate spot suspicious or out of place commands. however even though you do not understand your approach around codes it should facilitate to appear at the contents of an information file anyway. Strange messages are commonly inserted by virus writers and may be scan inside the code. inspect an information file with a word processing program and hunt for these. It's very useful to grasp how your laptop and therefore the programs on it work. explore for uncommon actions like changes in screens and graphics and unanticipated disk activity. Keep a watch on the number of obtainable RAM on your system. A sudden decrease in obtainable memory may be a tip-off that one thing is amiss. It's a smart plan to put in writing down or print out the file sizes of your numerous programs and check them often to visualize if a rise has occurred. this will indicate an epidemic, though if you have added to the file since the last check this indication are going to be false. understand the contents of your CONFIG.SYS and EXECUTE.BAT files and check them for any additional or inserted lines or commands.
Thanks

Re: What are Computer Viruses?
A computer virus is an executable program. Depend on the nature of a virus, it may cause damage of your hard disk contents, and/or interfere normal operation of your computer. By definition, a virus program is able to replicate itself. This means that the virus multiplies on a computer by making copies of itself. This replication is intentional; it is part of the virus program. In most cases, if a file that contains virus is executed or copied onto another computer, then that computer will also be "infected" by the same virus.
A virus can be introduced to a computer system along with any software program. For Internet users, this threat can come from downloading files through FTP (file transfer protocol), or referencing email attachments. (Please refer to our web page on Handling Email's File Attachments for details.)
When a virus is introduced to a computer system, it can attach itself to, or sometimes even replace, an existing program. Thus, when the user runs the program in question, the virus is also executed. This usually happens without the user being aware of it.
