To have your vote cast, you must provide 2 reasons for the system (its processor, its precedent in society, anything) and 2 top games/series for it. A nice story would be good too.
The best system ever, in my opinion, is the Playstation 1.
The system:
- The rival to the behemoth Nintendo64, this system launched Sony into the videogame era and created a viable competiton to Nintendo
- The graphical interface (though dependant on the games) was better than the Nintendo 64 and was a big step up to the previous systems available.
The games:
- Gran Turismo 1,2 -- This racing series allowed for gamers to use a variety of different vehicles from many different (not to mention real) auto makers. This was a step up from any previous racing game and made for many hours of fun, not to mention another 2 (in counting) games on the PS2
- Final Fantasy Series -- This series launched a whole fanbase into the next century. Obviously Final Fantasy started on the Nintendo, but with the Playstation 1's power it really came to life. Finally, a series to rival the Zelda ones on the Nintendo series
Obviouslly, I have been talking alot about the Nintendo/Sony rivalry, to which Sony has won in the PS2/Gamecube fight, but may have lost with the PSX/N64 fight. This doesn't really matter, as the first rivalry allowed Sony to overtake with the more expensive system anyway.
Now, your thoughts?
