Default domain name ownership

Hi everyone

I'm new, so first of all greetings!

I've enjoyed reading everyone's posts, it's great to have a community.

I've been playing with websites for about six months, built one with a webbuilder, bought someone elses and have a domain name that I haven't built a site for yet. However when I pull up the domain name, it's got someone else's ads on it -- what's going on with that when it's supposedly registered in my name? Or is this a really silly question?

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Where did you get the domain from? It sounds like it may be "parked" at the registrar. You should be able to log on to the domain control panel and change the nameserver settings.

Yah, I agree with the last two posts.
When domains are registered, some don't yet have name server information associated with it, so registrars will offer 'domain parking' on their servers for the time being.

Yeah basicly what you need to do is:

1. Find a host that fits your needs and has all the system requirements that you are looking for most designers that I know as well as my make sure that the host offers enough space and bandwidth so not to worry I personally recommend Kazix.com ( I am in no way affiliated with them, just host 3 of my sites through them) But they have linux hosting with cpanel which in my opinion is the best control deck out there.

2. Set up an account the company usually sends you an email that has a section stating the DNS ( domain name servers) they usually look like this ;
ns1.yourserver.com
ns2.yourserver.com

they always give you two and they must replace your parked domain names dns.

3. Go to where you registered the domain go into domain managemnt and look for the link to change dns, change the 2 the name registrar automaticly give you and that will point you to the hosting that you rent or own. you will see the difference usually in 24-48 hours at the most Ive seen it done in less than 12 hours . your host company should have a welcome page stating that this is your new home and that it is currently under construction with their ad on it etc this will only change when you replace the index.html file in your ftp or file manager.

hope this helped

you will most likely have to change the DNS if it is a parked page. i have had some trouble with this through godaddy.com but with whomever the site is registered should be able to help you change this. good luck

Changing nameservers were just so easy. I have just transferred a domain with godaddy and the service was so fast without any problems at all.

Hello Friends,

Now you can register domain in just $4.95 and you can get 2 free domains and 250 GB web space and 2,000 GB Bandwidth per year as low as $10/year and even get it free. you have to follow some instruction located at http://www.itdepth.com/hosting/ . Its work for me.

If you have any query you can directly contact him.

Best Regards,

If you leave the default registrar's nameservers the domain name will be parked with the domain registrar you registered the name at, earning them money instead if it gets traffic.
