Hi,
Just a quick disclaimer, I work for DigiCert and happened to stumble across your posting. I thought I could do some good so I signed up on the forum today.
There are a couple of options to meet your needs. Generally speaking, you will need one certificate for each domain name. Certificates can be designed to meet the following scenarios:
-Standard - Secure a single specified domain name (example.com)
-EV - Secure & enable green bar for a single specified domain name (example.com)
-Wildcard - Secure unlimited subdomains of a specified domain name (*.example.com)
-UC - Secure multiple domains with a single certificate (example.com, test.com, etc.)
If you're looking for one certificate to secure
all of your domain names, the UC certificate is your only option. Most Certificate Authorities charge a fee for each server you install the certificate on. DigiCert does not, but you should be aware that this could be a disadvantage if you go with someone else and don't have all of the domains on a single server.
One advantage to using multiple single certificates is if you need to revoke/disable one name, you don't have to affect all of your other domains. You'll need to be sure that the domains don't share the same IP address though.
That sounds a lot more complicated than it really is. Send me an email or give me a call if there’s anything else I can do to help!
Thanks,
