Default best dot com alternative

What is, in your opinion, the best dot com alternative extension?

Would it be good/wise to use a .net? Something else? This has long since been an issue with me and how I should progress.

Insight appreciated.

IMO, you can still find another .com alternative keyword domain..just make use of the wordtracker or overture..

The problem is that if you choose a really good domain most all extentions are already taken. I run across this quite often. Then you are stuck with .tk, or .ws

What do you guys think about the whole .ws thing anyways? ... will it be huge like they predict, or a flop?

Its better to go for a .com even how bad the name is. ( keeping it below 10 characters )
Instead of spending tons on a good name, direct the funds to advertising.

if you use a .co.uk or .co.ca etc google will categorise it as a Uk or canadian site and not list it as well for international searches.
