Default domain or subdomain?

Alright, I'm currently working on my website. But, you see, I've come across a sort of problem. Should I use subdomain(s)? It would divide my site into three domains/subdomains. For example: mysite.com, forum.mysite.com, and services.mysite.com.

What are the pros and cons of using a subdomain verses an extension of the main domain? (such as mysite.com/forum)

I want to build my site right the first time, and if having two or three subdomains, I don't want that to hurt my search engine traffic or general the activity my site gets. Comments?

It really depends on several factors, I don't know where to start. First off, search engine optimization might be a bit hard - but aside from that, from my expereinece, it doesn't matter much. You might use a little bit of traffic, but not really anything significant. Also depends on what you want for the subdomain to be. For a forum I highly recommend using a subdomain - it just sorts your site out better. But for most other things, an extention should be fine. But two or three subdomains won't kill ya'.

I would do it all one one. Easier for you to see stats.

I would select subdmains for many reasons! For example as jaasau said
you can have better stats! Also you can be ranked for the domain and then also the subdomain will be ranked! When i say ranked i mean when bots come in your website they will go to your subdomains too!

I'd go with subdomains since you can clearly see your stats and it looks so organized.

It depends really, and yes you can easily find each subdomain stat. But then again, it might take you longer to update each new section of the site and the SEO of the site might be low. Depends really, you could just use a extenstion.
