Default How do you capture TV shows?

I want to capture several TV shows using my computer. How do I do that? I'm tired of using my VCR to record my favorite TV shows. What are the things that I need to buy? Do I need a software? I really have no idea.

Help!!!

the easiest way is to use a dvr like tivo. The hard way and could be fun is to build you own dvr using something like Myth TV. If you want to capture it using you current computer, you'll need to have video capture card.

I would argue that this is NOT the easiest way, and is in fact quite hard

The true "easiest" way would be to go to a torrent site such as demonoid.com, Torrentspy.com - The Largest Bit Torrent Search Engine, Download music, movies, games, software! The Pirate Bay - The worlds largest BitTorrent tracker, Mininova : The ultimate BitTorrent source!, btjunkie - the largest bittorrent search engine, and look for it there.

Note: Se= season Ep= Episode.

What you can do is get a TV Tuner card for your PC... I'll provide a link of a sample TV tuner card below. From there you can either use the software thats provided or use Windows Media Center to record the tv shows wanted. One great feature about Media center edition is that it has a built in TV guide (like digital cable) and you can set up shows to record if you're not going to be around with much ease! If you need more information let me know...

Here is a link to a tv tuner card

Newegg.com - Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 MCE 1042 Tuner Card - Retail

Another option is get a dvd recorder and hook it up like a VCR. I just bought one for about $100 and I can program it just like a VCR to record live shows, record from VHS to DVD, and it has a firewire input for putting my camcorder vids right to DVD.

If you absolutely want to capture TV with a computer, the best way is a TV Tuner and the appropriate setup (cable, access etc.) It's fairly easy to do.

BUT Treason is 100% right, the absolute easiest way to get what you want is to get it from the community, be it public or private, there are many trackers out there just waiting for you. THAT'S the way to go.
