To someone that is really familiar and comfortable with computer hardware and operating systems is it better to have a website hosted or is it pretty easy to setup a server?

I'm new with all this, my end goal is to have a file hosting site for PC game patches. I'm really excited to be getting into this.

If you are a newbie in the world of web-designing and web-hosting, then a deal with shared hosting provider is best suit to your goal. As your website grow think about your own server.
