For anti-virus, check out avast! (avast.com)

Can be licenced for free for home users, and isn't nearly as bloated as Norton or others. Total install is around 30MB or so. Very good for older systems or systems that are short on RAM.

Is very light, fast, and includes support for Outlook, P2P and IM scanning.

Definitely recommended. I have been using it for about a year with good results.
