Here is a snippet of mine. It could help out with getting your site to answer without the www. These are my settings:

ServerName ns1.airman.com
ServerAdmin support@airman.com
Listen *:80
Port 80
NameVirtualHost 72.96.152.127

# Virtual host airgunner.com
<VirtualHost 72.96.52.127>
DocumentRoot /home/airgunner/www/
ServerAdmin support@airman.com
ServerName airgunner.com
ServerAlias www.airgunner.com
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /home/airgunner/cgi-bin/
</VirtualHost>

This works fine on my RH9 server however yours may differ slightly.
