I don't know about you but in my minds eye. White Hat, Black Hat, Grey Hats are all pretty much the same. It's just the degree in the tactics used to get what you want separates each category.

If you are a White Hatter, then you launch a new site but you are not in any hurry to get ranked and not too worried about your competition.

The Grey Hatter is generally the newbie who wants his site listed as soon as possible and does internet research on getting ranked and tries almost every combination he/she finds. This person generally don't even know they are a Grey Hat.

The Black Hatter is the person that launches his site and wants to rank high within a few days or so. He is willing to Spam, Slam anything and anyone to get his site ranked.
