When look at Vista and Linux you must also look at which version of Linux, I have XP, Debian & Slackware running on my system. Linux is like windows at some point, if the administrator(root) user install extra software this may potentially open up new security issues. In fresh installations of a Linux operating system and a Vista one, Linux has won.
