it's depend from what you want. PHP is a extrem strong language, you can do all what you want, only your hosting service limited you in dong all this things. I compaire PHP always with C/C++ you have the simple things and the complex programming torward in the deepest inner of the system. easy to lear is it not, but if you are intrested to study it and maybe has some skills in other porgramming it would be not so difficult.
