This isn't a guaranteed method
http://www.domaintools.com/ however it will show you if the domain has been blacklisted.
The other check is direct in google where you do a site:mysite.com command and see if pages are indexed. If they are then you are 90% OK.
You must also remember that google are also a registrar and it is not unknown for them to zero score a domain when ownership changes. This is really important!
