Default Re: Windows vs. Linux

i've used both windows and linux, and i'm not really going to say that one is better than the other. they both have their ups and downs. like here:

for windows.. it's not too bad, but not that good. first, it's not so customizable. for example the themes.. windows doesn't allow you to change much in the way your desktop looks. you easily get bored out of it. of course, all those patches and software could be downloaded to make this possible, but why not microsoft just implement it in there? another thing is about speed at times. when it lags, it lags. no doubt.

the worst with windows is the pricing. it's way too high (i've never bought a legit copy myself and i admit that.. but it's not illegal here to nevermind that).
another annoying part has to do with updates.. now you can't easily update anymore without that genuine windows validation whatever. it's a pain. of course i can't update anymore.. why? because my copy ain't original. i can't even download new software like media player 11 or the like. they force you to do what they want you to do.

the last would be security.. nobody worries much nowadays but windows computers ARE highly vulnerable. they haven't reached top levels yet.

now for linux.. it's the most flexible operating system i have ever seen. you could do basically everything you want with it. you could change the looks as you like, colours, sizes, everything. you could simply download themes and set them up. little widgets are very cool too.

with linux, it's all free. no one has to worry about any costs. it comes with tons of applications that you can use, PLUS you can download tons more from the internet. it's just wonderful.
the bad part about it though, is that it's not too easy.. the installation process. if you're not willing to search and learn, then linux would be a pain when it comes to installing software. you need to mess with shell and all. not so quick. then you'd encounter problems with missing modules and stuff. very annoying at times.

i'm 100% pro linux servers. no windows. linux is great for servers. for personal use, i prefer a mix of windows and linux. both on the same disk. it does the job quite well.
switching between the two would take a few minutes maybe? so what? i could slip in a few sit-ups or a sandwich.
